MAUVE EVENING GOWN Soft mauve silk satin is worked in surprising details at shoulders in 3 rows of fine gathers, at complete waist surround of rows of smocking to create an empire waist and center back of skirt with inverted "V" inset that flows to slight train. Larger arm holes, 2 covered back buttons at neck and open to waist all add the sensuousness of this 1930s masterpiece. Though smocking of this detail would be impossible on a doll, we thought perhaps just a crisscross of stitching to create the diamond pattern and look of smocking and rows at the shoulders. |
